Betul Aydiner

For twenty years, Betul Aydiner was a leader in the creative manufacture of ceramics through her workshop in Istanbul. Many of the works seen on these pages came into being at the studios of Selen Ceramics. Other productions, such as the Ottoman Navy designs that have gained widespread popularity, were first made at her workshop. Although no longer active in the business of mass-produced ceramics, she is available for private commissions. Please enquire by E-Mail at this website.

Since 1996, Betul Aydiner has devoted much of her time to painting. Her bold watercolor landscapes of the Aegean and Mediterranean Coasts of Turkey have been exhibited in Ankara, Antalya and Fethiye. Her latest and most ambitious paintings, which depict street scenes of Istanbul and the everyday mysticism of Peru, have twice been exhibited in Istanbul in the last two years.

All the paintings on this website are the result of her concentration on vivid but commonplace subjects that are often ignored. Likewise, the techniques of traditional watercolors have sometimes been ignored in her search for the kind of reality that can always be found within. Those choices are her trademarks.
